On Rubbin’ Minds today, the topic is “Who wants to party?” – and it explores issues and learning points around young people and how to drive an effective change agenda through the Nigerian governance system.

In the past week, there has been a spirited debate amongst young leaders from across the country on the question of public service and political participation especially with regard to joining political parties, and the line between activism and the power to make change happen.

Today’s show will investigate this clamour – is this simply a vicious cycle where a new generation wants a “share of the national cake”? Or is this a welcome awakening amongst young people, driven by a desire to move beyond talk and into action. More narrowly, are there political parties to be joined or not to be joined and what are the fault lines to avoid if this generation is to be effective.

Guests include Hon. Tunde Abodunrin, who is a councillor with the Surulere Local Government; Tolu Ogunlesi, an art consultant and writer; Cheta Nwanze, an IT consultant, Tosyn Bucknor, an on-air personality and Bobo Omotayo, writer and PR consultant who plans to run for the House of Representatives.
