The debut edition of reality singing competition, The Voice Nigeria was an incredible success. It gave us the singing star that is A’rese Emokpae and months after the show ended, the Nigerian audience could hardly stop talking about the stellar TV show.

It’s 2017 and The Voice Nigeria has returned for a second season. True that we’re not sure it has gotten major buzz since producers announced its return but we’re almost certain it will take one show – only one – for The Voice to reverberate across the Nigerian audience.

That one show we speak of will air tonight and will mark the beginning of three full months of top-quality television content (if we’re to judge by last year’s offering).

In few hours, The Voice Nigeria will grace our television screens again so to help you enjoy the show to the fullest, we’ve put together these tips:

1. Fuel your generating set because it’s a given that PHCN is not dependable. The best way to go about this is to shut out PHCN for the entire stretch of the show. Trust that it will be worth it in the end.
2. If your favourite judge last season was 2face Idibia aka 2Baba, sorry to disappoint you but he won’t be part of this season. He has been replaced by Yemi Alade and we have absolutely no idea how she’ll fit into the mix but we look forward.
3. Speaking of judges, you might have to choose your favourite early enough in the show. There’s Waje, Patoranking, Timi Dakolo and of course, Yemi Alade; all of them will be dramatic, you will disagree with some of them in the course of the show but you will need to stick with your top judge, or you can stick up for all of them if you want.
4. There will be social media war. There’s no other way to put it but there will be madness across that space and you will be part of it but you need to learn to control your emotions. Recall the social media movement for Big Brother Naija months ago, recall how fanatics cursed and kicked as they fought for their favourite contestants? We anticipate that this will be worse, a lot more people agree with singing competitions so we assume there will be a larger audience. The higher the viewership, the deadlier the battle.
5. We suppose there will be a wider array of talents than last year. The show has gained more popularity so more talents would have signed on. They will give us beautiful, enthralling performances and it will be almost hard to pick a favourite. But we will! The advice is to be as open-minded as possible, take it all in and enjoy the stages even when a contestant you favor gets evicted.
