EFCC apprehends Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia as judge strikes out corruption charges against her

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have apprehended Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, a dismissed judge of the Federal High Court, after corruption charges against her were struck out.

Her arrest took place on the premises of an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that about 10 officials of the EFCC surrounded Ofili-Ajumogobia as she attempted to leave the courtroom at 10.24 a.m. after the ruling by Justice Hakeem Oshodi.

El-Rufai directs all political appointees to resign

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State on Tuesday directed all political appointees in the state to resign by April 30, 2019.

El-Rufai also directed that such appointees should forward the resignation letters with their handover notes to his Principal Private Secretary. A statement by Samuel Aruwan, media aide to the governor, issued on Tuesday in Kaduna, said El-Rufai thanked the political appointees for their contributions and services to the state.

Wike gets certificate of return, dedicates victory to people

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) on Tuesday presented the Certificate of Return to the re-elected  Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at the commission’s  headquarters in Port Harcourt.  Governor Wike was re-elected by the good people of Rivers State on March 9, 2019 with the Collation of Governorship Election results concluded on April 3, 2019. INEC Returning Officer,  Deputy Vice Chancellor of Federal University,  Otuoke, Prof Teddy Adias declared Governor Wike winner after he polled 886,264 votes, to defeat African Alliance Congress candidate, Biokpomabo Awara who scored 173,859 votes.

Extend corruption probe to other judges, SANS tells Buhari

A group of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, under the aegis of Justice Reform Project, have said the reported voluntary resignation of Justice Walter Onnoghen should not be the end of the corruption allegations leveled against him.

In a statement on Tuesday, JRP, which consists of about 20 SANs, said it was important for Buhari to take this step in order to convince Nigerians that Onnoghen’s trial was not a politically-motivated witch-hunt and had no ethnic colouration.

I am vindicated about Atiku’s birthplace – Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said the claim by All Progressives Congress (APC) to the effect that presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar is not a Nigerian but a Cameroonian has vindicated him.

Addressing his members through his broadcast on Radio Biafra, Kanu said: “The headline ‘Atiku Is Not a Nigerian, APC Tells Tribunal’ is vindication that everything I say on Radio Biafra is the truth. It may appear outlandish and unbelievable at first, but eventually history always vindicates me.
