Oshiomhole, APC instigating EFCC to arrest me – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has accused the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, and other leaders of the party of instigating the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other law enforcement agencies to arrest and detain him.

Okorocha stated this in two separate fundamental rights enforcement suits marked FHC/ABJ/CS/474/19 and FHC/ABJ/CS/475/19 and filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, adding that the anti-corruption agencies had been directed to arrest and keep him in detention as soon as he handed over as governor on May 29.

Atiku, PDP doing everything possible to sabotage Buhari – FG

The Federal Government has warned the Peoples Democratic Party not to derail the country’s democracy through its brand of opposition politics. The FG claimed the opposition party and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, were “desperate” for power, as exemplified in what the government called “unpatriotic” utterances lately. Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, gave the government’s position while speaking with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,  on Wednesday.

Battle for Senate president not do-or-die – Lawan

Ahead of the inauguration of the Ninth Senate and the election of a new Senate President, the Senate Leader, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, yesterday said the battle for the exalted position is not a do-or-die affair. He, however, unfolded plans to devote three months to budget consideration if he is elected to the lead the National Assembly in the next political dispensation.

Tribunal fixes May 22 for hearing of PDP’s motion

A motion by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the February 23 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, will be heard on May 22, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) said yesterday.

The motion is seeking the withdrawal of the tribunal’s Chairman Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, from hearing the petition filed against the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari at the election.

Write judgments for posterity – Acting CJN tells judges

The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Wednesday urged judges to write judgments not because of the monetary benefits but for posterity.

The CJN spoke at the inauguration of the ultra-modern High Court complex built by the Imo State government and named after the late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
