The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, had more than 2 cents to give about the ongoing corruption allegation in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

Buhari is “treating corruption involving his men as a family affair,” Fayose said in a statement yesterday describing the $25billion NNPC contract scam allegation by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu as an “embarrassment to the country.”

Speaking of alleged corruption, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC) just revealed that they have traced N2.114 bilion to an account belonging to the late mother of former First Lady Mrs Patience Jonathan.

This is the most recent in a series of back and forth between the commission and the former first lady. Mrs Patience Jonathan had earlier filed a N2 billion fundamental human rights suit against the EFCC after they froze 15 accounts belonging to the former first lady, stating that the funds were proceeds of corruption.

Meanwhile, the outbreak of Monkeypox virus has begun to take its toll in the South-east as parents and guardians are beginning to withdraw their children and wards from school. However, there’s more to the story.

Most parents are actually withdrawing the pupils because of a rumour that the Nigerian army was injecting Monkeypox virus into school children. The rumour stemmed from a report published by an online medium that the Nigerian Army was forcefully vaccinating pupils against the Monkeypox disease through its medical outreach and advised parents to immediately evacuate their children.

The death of  Tagbo Umeike has continued to trail popular musician Davido.

A recent autopsy confirmed that Tagbo died of suffocation and not intoxication as earlier thought. However, the police still called his friend, Davido, in for further questioning.

In reaction, the 24-year-old singer blamed “bloggers” for spreading falsehood while maintaining that he had no hand in the death of Tagbo. Here’s what he said.
