The hunt for Abdulrasheed Maina, the former pension boss sacked two days ago by President Muhammadu Buhari due to illegalities surrounding his employment and promotion, continues. In case you’re new to this story, Maina was dismissed from service in 2013 over an alleged N100 billion fraud and has since been on the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) watch-list.

It should be noted that Maina has been at large since the president gave his orders, as the EFCC could neither find him in his office or his $2billion mansion.

Now, the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau has asked Maina to stop running and Surrey himself to the EFCC.

Also, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita has queried two permanent secretaries over the controversial reinstatement and promotion of Maina.

If you recall, accusing fingers were intially pointed at the Civil Service boss Oyo-Ita, however, she denied any knowledge of Maina’s reinstatement.

The fight against insurgency continues as members of the Nigerian Army rescues eighty-five people from Boko Haram captivity in Borno state.

According to reports, the captives were rescued after a gun duel between the soldiers and some insurgents.

With the 2019 elections drawing nearer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it plans to create polling units in prisons across Nigeria, to ensure that prisoners are allowed to vote.

Apparently, prisoners in Nigeria have the right to vote in all elections conducted in the country, as ruled by a Federal High Court in Benin.

However, certain categories of prisoners would not be allowed to vote depending on the nature of their crimes.

Here’s what the INEC chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said about the new plans.

Yesterday, 257 Nigerians voluntarily , according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The agency had earlier announced that it was expecting 580 Nigerians returning from Libya this week.

They were assisted back home by the International Organisation for Migration.
