The United Nations has nothing but a strong rebuttal for the federal government’s claim of technically defeating Boko-Haram in the North East.

The UN in its latest report issued by the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian (OCHA) stated that Nigeria Government lied with its claim of routing out the deadly sect as three Local Government Areas in Borno are still cut off By Boko Haram, which has slowed down the activities of humanitarian organisations in the state.

This statement is coming at a time pundits are alleging that the federal government is diverting media attention from Boko-Haram attacks in the North East, which was made evident in the submission of the Yobe state Commissioner of Police Mr Sunmonu Abdulmalik while speaking to TVC News on October 25, 2017, over the attacks at Sasawa in the state, that claimed the lives of some military officers.

He claimed that the town is coming under attack for the fourth time in 2017 which was not reported by the media.

By the time the Commissioner of Police’ statement and the UN statement are linked together, it points to something: Boko-Haram is still operating in the North East but it’s unreported.

The federal government needs to investigate the claim by the United Nations and come out clean on its findings.
