Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health, has asked Nigerians to report any Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) worker or Ministry of Health personnel that demands payment before COVID-19 test is carried out in the country.
There have been reports circulating since last week that the Federal government charges as much as N50,000 for Covid-19 testing and Osagie Ehanire has now rubbished those reports.
Speaking during a briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday, the health minister, Osagie Ehanire, said COVID-19 testing remains free.
“I wish to remind everyone that government-run testing for COVID-19 is free. Please report anyone who demands payment for necessary action,” Osagie Ehanire.

NCDC issues new guideline for conducting forthcoming elections
The Health body responsible for disease prevention and control in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has released a new set of rules and guidelines for safely conducting State and Local Government elections in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed over 600 people in Nigeria already.
According to the NCDC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties, politicians, need to adhere strictly with the guidelines and lead by example to control the virus spread.
WAEC exams to hold from August 4
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, has announced that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2020 will hold from August 4 to September 5. The examination which was earlier scheduled for April this year, was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ondo governor appoints new SSG shortly after the former resigned
The Ondo governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has appointed a new SSG in the state shortly after the former resigned. Ifedayo Abegunde resigned as the Secretary to the Ondo State Government on Monday, July 6.
