The Ijaw Youths Council has criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his recent verbal attacks on ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan.
Obasanjo had stated that the Niger Delta region will suffer for the failure of Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure as President.
The IYC described the comments as reckless and baseless, stating that it was a deliberate attempt to dent the good political image of former Jonathan, while in office.
The group stated that if any region would be haunted by the performance of an ex-Nigerian President, it would be the South West region and the Yoruba nation as former President Obasanjo’s performance in office was abysmal.
In a statement released in Yenagoa, Spokesman of IYC, Eric Omaresaid: “Obasanjo does not want anybody in Nigeria to be greater than him.”
Omare stressed that Jonathan’s five years in office was far better than Obasanjo’s eight years in office.
