Mercy Aigbe’s husband called her crazy and we’re wondering what the actual heck this is?

Honestly, we’re tired!

Tired of celebrity divorces and the mentally exhausting stories that come with them.

Less than a week ago, news of Mercy Aigbe’s marriage issues was all over the place. A number of us frankly hoped it was another rumour that would be diffused in good time. Then less than a day after we first heard about it, more details emerged and we got totally confused. What is wrong with people in the limelight?

It hasn’t been two months since Tonto Dikeh and her husband gave us one of the worst back and forth we’ve experienced in Nollywood divorce industry. How two people who claimed to be in love and even have a child together turned out to be arch enemies confounds the wisest of us. It’s appalling, demeaning and all the more makes it tough to take sides with any of both parties.

Is it that men cannot refrain from physically abusing the women they claim to love, the women they call wives? For those who are incapable of reducing themselves to wife beaters, how is it that they can’t stop themselves from causing emotional pain? Or is it the type of men our female celebrities chose to be with? We do not understand the dynamics.

Days after Mercy Aigbe’s husband, Lanre Gentry made shoddy attempts at denying that he attacked her, he decided the next line of action was to call her a crazy woman. “Why don’t I call her mad so everyone can know I’m innocent and it was her mental issues that gave her a swollen, bloodied face?“. Sorry Mr Gentry, you just handed us proof of your guilt.

But before we heap all the blame on the men, we need to address the ladies and their priorities too. So from the stories we’ve heard, Mercy Aigbe had allegedly been a victim of domestic violence for a while or not, considering she might have lied to us in 2013 when she denied he beat her at an event. Then again, she reportedly shared this photo on her Instagram yesterday then deleted it..

We don’t know who or what to believe and although NOTHING justifies a man abusing his wife, this entire story is set to drive us nuts. Summarily, we’re genuinely bothered about the spate of divorces in the celebrity circle and it has become so hard to swallow.
