The Minister of Defence, Mansur Ali has said it may take years to rescue all the Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.

While speaking with VOA’s Hausa service in Yola on Tuesday, Ali said the military has been searching for the girls in Boko Haram hideouts in the Sambisa forest.

He added that it took the United States years to find Osama Bin Laden after the invasion of Afghanistan.

“It took the U.S. up to seven, eight, up to 10 years before they could get to bin Laden,” he said.

“We are continuing our campaign in the Sambisa Forest in all its nooks and corners.”

Boko Haram had abducted 276 girls on April 14, 2014 from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno state.

The military had rescued 21 of the girls while 57 of the girls managed to escape.
