“She left him for her lover” || Man arraigned for hiring assassins to kill ex-wife

A man has been charged before an Ijeshatedo Magistrate court for allegedly hiring assassins to kill his ex-wife.

The 34-year old suspect, Abiodun Atinuke, reportedly hired three men and paid them an undisclosed amount of money to assassinate his ex-wife Eniola.

According to the suspect, Eniola dumped him for another man six months after their marriage.

Infuriated by him being jilted, the suspect took the assassins to 15, Ogunmokun Street, Mushin, Lagos, the residence of the ex-wife.
Eniola barely managed to escape, after which she reported the matter to the police at Olosan Division. The police subsequently arrested Atinuke, but his accomplices fled.

During interrogation, Atinuke did did not deny the allegations, while also saying that he caught his ex-wife in bed with her lover, before she packed out of the house.

He said after they got married, Eniola started behaving strangely and was coming home late. He said he confirmed his suspicion when he caught his wife with her lover.

Atinuke said he confronted Eniola, who instead of showing remorse, packed out of their matrimonial home and moved into her lover’s house. He was charged for conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace. During arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mrs. Abegunde Davis, the presiding magistrate, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 24 September, 2014.
