On Apple Music Up Next Artist interview, Burna Boy was interviewed by Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga on his forthcoming album Africa Giant, and the moment he realised his career was blowing up. The latter he explained when he performed in 2014 in a stadium in Eastern Nigeria. According to Burna Boy, Easterners tend to gravitate toward artistes from the region (Phyno, Zoro, etc) and when he received such massive reception to his song, he knew right then that he had crossed over.
Anthony Joshua visits Makoko Community
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was in Lagos during the weekend, making stops at the National Stadium in Surulere, and Makoko community. Along with the Tonye Cole Foundation working closely with the Slum2School initiative, AJ as he’s popularly called interated with the children of the community and even gave them boxing tips. Who knows, the next heavyweight champion might just come from Makoko. Makoko is a slum neighbourhood situated on the coast of Lagos’ mainland. One-third of the entire community is built on stilts along the lagoon, while the rest of it is on land. Given that it’s surrounded by water, there’s a very large fishing community.
Furthermore, it’s heartwarming to see the professional boxer answering their teeming questions about his career. Good one, AJ.
