Whether it is Detective Fashola, Nigerian Sherlock Holmes, Fashola Holmes or Agent Fash, the new reality is that one person now commands all the aforementioned appellations, and it is no other person than the current minister of works and housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Fashola, who was a two-time governor of Lagos, burst into the national discourse with his ‘shocking’ discovery of a camera at the Lekki toll gate plaza, the site of the now-infamous #LekkiMassacre where fire was opened on peaceful protesters by security agents.
In the company of some ministers, state governors and political leaders, Fashola, in a manner that made a mockery of famous detective character, Sherlock Holmes, discovered a camera and picked it up with a black sock, probably to avoid his fingerprint registering on it.
His act has got tongues wagging on social media and he has earned many monikers in less than a day
With Fashola trending, popular DMW act and singer, Peruzzi, has also been drawn into the limelight for his apparent gift of prophecy.
In the early days of August, long before the eruption of #EndSARS protests and the resultant events which culminated in Fash ‘discovery’ and #FasholaChallenge, Peruzzi released a single, ‘Lagbaja’, which had Fashola mentioned in its chorus.
“Call lagbaja
Say the matter e don turn kasala
Abi you go call Fashola
As road block don block ashana o
Na the matter we dey solve
But e no gree solve…”
@Peruzzi Shaybe Na you say make them call Fashola ?

The lyrics then seem to draw attention to the ongoing but largely unsolved case of the Lekki shooting incident with ‘na the matter we dey solve, but e no gree solve”.
With Fashola the latest public official to lend his ‘expertise’ to the seemingly knotty #LekkiMassacre case in which no headway had been recorded before Fashola’s discovery of a ‘hidden camera’ , it appears that Peruzzi was prophetic in his lines after all, saying “abi you go call Fashola…”
Oya call fashola, say the camera e don turn kasala
