Apart from the already known fact that the final season of HBO series, Game of Thrones will have six feature-length episodes, a new report by Variety has it that season 8 will be breaking the bank.
Compared to season 7 that cost $10 million per episode, the coming season will be the most expensive yet with a budget of $15 million per episode; and that’s record-breaking considering no other TV show comes close.
You know why this budget estimate makes perfect sense?
Season 7’s finale that saw the army of the undead bring down the wall lasted nearly 80 minutes and cost $10 million to make but each episode in season 8 will be longer, as we already know.

Apart from length, many important but expensive elements that cannot be sidelined will be going into season 8. Vanity Fair reports that we may be seeing a dragon battle between Drogon and undead Viserion in the new season. Producers will also be bringing back the direwolves and of course, giants who are already seen marching with the army of the undead.
Besides all these, the stars’ salaries will be costing a lot of dollars. For season 7, the top 5 characters, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister, Jamie Lannister and Tyrion Lannister, each earned up to $2 million.
After all said, we still have no clue to the final season’s broadcast date but filming will begin next month.
