Again, Fashola blames Jonathan for bad roads

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Friday, disclosed that the Jonathan administration’s inability to pay contractors for three years was the reason why contractors were abandoning their projects.

The Minister made this known while commissioning the 24 km Itori-Ibese concrete road constructed by AG-Dangote in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state.

He said that President Buhari’s administration was the first government to dedicate 30 percent (N300 billion) of its budget for the ministries of Power, Housing and Works.

Fashola noted that under former administration the three ministries suffered as less than N30 billion was earmarked for them.

The Minister further stated that the problems bedeviling the government on road construction was caused by the Jonathan administration.

He disclosed that in 2015, N18 billion was budgeted for roads, N5 billion for power and N1.8 billion for Housing.

“Over N300 billion was budgeted for the three ministries despite that there is no money. What we are facing today is the aggregate of what has happened in the last three years.”
