Davido signs new act
In the early days of 2016, Davido hinted at the possibility of a new addition to his ‘HKN’ record label.

Davido had promised that the new addition would win the ‘next rated award at the Headies’ in 2016.

So yesterday, the singer took to Instagram to introduce the new act, and lo and behold, it was Mayokun, an Afro pop singer who earlier this year, covered the HKN star’s Money single.

Mayokun had posted the video on Instagram which led to Davido taking interest in him.

Interestingly, Mayokun who is a graduate of the University of Lagos, is the son of popular Yoruba movie actress Toyin Adewale.

D’banj unveiled as host of MTV’s Lip Sync Battle

The Kokomaster has been announced as the host of Lip Sync Battle Africa, which is produced by MTV.

The show, which was originally created in the United States and is now in the UK, would see African celebrities battle each other with lip sync performances just like the original format.

The television series would be hosted by D’banj alongside South African actress, Pearl Thusi.

Chidinma reportedly leaves Capital music

Reports emerged on Thursday that Capital Records’ first lady Chidinma had exited the label.

While some media reports claim that the singer refused to renew her contract with the Clarence Peters and Tha Suspect led music group, some others infer that it was mutually agreed between her and the label, to part ways.

Her Twitter account however, still reads ‘Recording Artiste CAPitalHill Music/GorettiCompany’

Meanwhile, the singer released a steamy picture with 2Nite hunk, Flavour.

The pair, rumoured to be an item, shared the picture on their Instagram pages.

Kendrick Lamar pulls a Beyoncé

Still fresh from a scintillating performance and impressive outing at the Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar surprised fans with an album- an untitled and unmastered 8-track record, which was released on iTunes on Friday morning.

Earlier this week, his label boss Anthony ‘Top Dawg’ Tiffith had spoken of a new body of work form the TDE rapper, however, he didn’t specifically say if they are new songs.

It appears that some of the tracks on the surprise release are from his performances at last month’s Grammy Awards, his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and on Comedy Central’s Colbert Report in 2014.
