Chelsea splash the cash as they sign Man City’s target Jorginho from Napoli for £57M

Jorginho

Chelsea have handed new manager Maurizio Sarri a useful tool and his trusted soldier – Jorginho by signing him from Napoli for a fee of £57M. Chelsea battled Premier League Champions Man City for his signature, but Man City pulled out of the deal.

Pass-master Jorginho teams up with his former manager at Napoli as his first signing for the upcoming season. It is unlikely that Sarri did not have a part to play in Jorginho’s arrival. Jorginho spent four years at Napoli where he amassed 133 appearances in the League for them.

He was a very key component of Sarri’s jigsaw at Napoli and will be looking to play a similar role for his manager in Chelsea. Italian international, Jorginho plays as a deep-lying playmaker and he is notable for controlling play from deep. A role Cesc Fabregas would have been adept in playing if he was younger. It is however no surprise that Sarri went for a trusted lieutenant to execute the role for him in his new team.

Chelsea are also heavily linked with Russian starboy Aleksandr Golovin and Juventus defender Daniele Rugani. Chelsea have a short time to get all their new signings before the season commences and they seem to be up to the task. However, they need to convince Eden Hazard to stay for this transfer window to be considered a success.
