BREAKING: North Korea has launched another ballistic missile – Pentagon

The Pentagon said Friday that it has detected a North Korean ballistic missile launch and is carrying out assessments to gather further information, Reuters reports.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said the launch occurred at about 10:45 a.m. ET (1445 GMT) and it was still being assessed for further information.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also confirmed the launch saying, “I have received the first report that North Korea again launched a missile and it possibly landed inside the exclusive economic zone.”
According to, the U.S believes that the DPRK would be capable of launching a reliable nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) by early 2018. This is an acceleration two years ahead of previous estimates that put Pyongyang three to five years from fully developing long-range missile capabilities.
