Tonight, was the first Saturday night in this new season’s Big Brother Naija house, and that simply means one thing, Party Time! Party time and the after party drama are two things that make for exciting content in the BBN show. It is important that housemates know how to boggie down, and get the audience rocking with them during the Saturday Night Live party, so it was truly interesting on opening night when half the housemates promised to bring dance vibes to the house.
After tonight’s party, looking back at the promises of serenading the audience with dance moves, it feels like these housemates lied. With the way they promised to bring dance vibes, you would think that this season would be filled with housemates the likes ex-housemates; Alex, Tobi, Mercy or Nengi, but for the most part, during the party, most of the housemates just stood, staring at the mirror with what little move they busted.
It even looked like the guys went out of their way to avoid the girls, except for Sammie, Jaypaul, White Money, and ironically the quiet Yousef, who at least made some attempt to groove with their female counterparts. For the most part, the housemates didn’t attempt to move around or scatter the dance floor, those who at least danced seemed stiff and not really into it. Even Liqourose who one would have expected to bring the energy, hardly changed anything.
You know it was bad when the Dj was the most lit person in the party. DJ Big N who was tonight’s party mixer did an exceptional job in bringing the hits, however the housemates didn’t match his skill with their groove. But to be fair, Jaypaul, White Money, Angel, Saga, Tega and Cross, did do their best to pump up the party, but in this case the majority masked the minority.
Not sure if it is first week jitters and housemates are just trying to feel each other out first, or if this is going to be the norm, but this being the norm is near unacceptable for a show heavily reliant on this particular one hour every Saturday.
For Chinedu Okafor, its all about making an impact with words, creating a profound impression on the audience with the intended narrative.
