Army to launch Operation Crocodile Smile II in N’Delta

The Nigerian Army has said it would launch the second phase of Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta.

Spokesman of 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Colonel Aminu Ilyasu, disclosed this in a statement.

Background:

The Army had launched the same exercise in the Niger Delta last year. The military also just completed Operation Python Dance in the South-East.

What the army said:

  • The operation will enhance  combat skills of soldiers on land and marine operations.
  • It will also improve their sense of civil military relations.
  • The exercise will commence from October 7 and end on October 28.

“The exercise is intended for troops to practice administration, operational, logistics as well as civil-military cooperation aspects in a military operation such as the provision of free medical care to host communities, Quick Impact Projects, QIP, and the conduct of sanitation exercises to be undertaken by the troops for the benefit of their host communities and distribution of educational materials to schools as part of Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, “ he added.
