by Kolapo Olapoju

The Supreme Court has upheld the governorship election victory of Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose.

The appeal filed againt Fayose by the All Progressives Congress was dismissed by the Supreme Court.

The judgement, which was unanimous was delivered this morning, by a seven-man panel of Justices of the apex court led by Justice John Fabiyi.

It was held that the appeal which challenged Fayose’s election victory, lacked merit.

The panel stated that the APC failed to prove its allegation that the election was fraught with unparalleled irregularities.

It added that the allegation that Fayose tendered forged Higher National Diploma Certificate ‎to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was also not proved beyond every reasonable doubt.
