I was searched on arriving Nigeria – Atiku

Former Vice President and presidential flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku on Sunday said he was searched by those he termed “agents of the state” in Abuja, the nation’s capital, who according to him are planning to intimidate him and members of his staff.

He stated this via his official Twitter account, saying, “I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff.

“I am committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is intimidated by agents of state who are paid to protect them.

“Together, #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain.”

Atiku has been in the United Arab Emirates where he held meetings with members of his strategic team ahead of his presidential campaign. The former Vice President did not reveal the security agency who searched him at the airport.

Atiku is the major contender for Nigeria’s presidency come February 16, 2019. He alongside other aspirants will battle with the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari.
