[The Activism Blog] Bukky Shonibare’s #Mission2Makurdi

Bukky shonibare, a member #BringBackOurGirls group and Founder Adopt-A-Camp has concluded her humanitarian mission to victims of the recent flood disaster in Benue.

The mission which took place between September 12-14, 2017, included a medical team who conducted basic medical tests for the beneficiaries, administered drugs, provided medical advice, and made referrals. This was fully supported by the supporting team from Global Impact Church Lagos and other partners.

Also, relief items like shoes, cookers, freezers, toys, bicycles, rockers, blankets, bags, mattresses, beddings, plates, seasonings, nursing mothers’ kits were given to the displaced residents.

There was also a community impact programme were over 300 households benefitted from items like blanket, mosquito net, rice, and feeding set. In addition, non-food items like mattress, clothes, shoes, beddings, kitchen utensils, books and N5,000 were given.

The three day #Mission2Makurdi exceeded its N5 million funding goal with support from donor’s and well-meaning Nigerians like Pastors Nike Adeyemi, Yemi Davids, Godman Akinlabi, and music producer ID Cabasa.

According to information on its website, The Adopt-A-Camp project was birthed in view of the growing number of Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria.
