#YNaijaBBNCoverage: Week 8 produces the toughest nominations so far | Trickytee wins HOH

An unexpected line up of nominated housemates

Since the start of the Big Brother Naija lockdown season, there has been absolutely no shortage of excitement. This season’s housemates and the drama they bring has had the country even more hooked on a show that atypically blows its ratings off the roof.

Asides the dynamics of the housemates making for great TV content, there are the occasional plot twists – organic or imprinted by Big Brother that also makes for entertaining content. And yesterday, the final result of those up for possible eviction promises to drive even more excitement for the next live eviction show.

Of the remaining 9 housemates in the house, the four housemates up for possible eviction this week are, Ozo, Dorothy, Prince and Kiddwaya. Asides Prince, the remaining three are all round faves, and have all had an intense level of mentions on social media, so it’s going to be interesting to see which fan base will show out.

New head of house

As we all know, an activity synonymous with Mondays in the BBN house is the head of house challenge. For this season, the HOH games has remained consistent, as housemates now know what to expect when they step into the arena on Monday evenings.

Yesterday, however, it would be Trickytee that got the best of the challenge as he eventually finished with the best time. He not only had to compete with everyone, but came out victorious from a five way tie between, Dorothy, Neo, Ozo, Vee, and himself. For the role of his deputy, he selected Laycon.

This came after Big Brother relaxed the rule that the head of house must select someone of the opposite sex as deputy. Moving forward, the head of house is allowed to pick anyone as deputy, regardless of their gender. The reason for this is the reduced number of contestants in the house.

Diary room talks

Following the disqualification of Erica on Sunday, Biggie asked the housemates what they thought of the entire situation, and here’s what they had to say:

Vee

For Vee, the disqualification is one of the sickest ironies to think of. “How can you be head of house, have immunity and mess it up?” She said. Speaking to Biggie, Vee mentioned that maybe Erica wanted to go home, because she simply couldn’t fathom the irony of the head of house who is supposed to be safe from possible eviction go home.

Prince

Prince cited internal strife as reason why Erica lashed out. He speculated some un-examined preexisting issues that could be traced to her personal life, which may have heavily influenced how she reacted.  Prince also spoke about how he didn’t appreciate Lucy walking out of the house without saying goodbye to anyone. He stated that he was torn between being sad that Lucy left and being angry about how she left.

Trickytee

Trickytee seemed to beat himself up for not doing more. He talked about how the housemates should have done more to restrain Erica, that way things may not have escalated the way it did. He stated that Kiddwaya may have been able to step in, and stop her, alongside the other girls in the house.

Kiddwaya

For Kiddwaya, how he felt was simply articulated in one statement, “It broke my heart, it just breaks my heart that it ended this way.” Like Trickytee, he agreed that maybe he could have done more, by carrying her straight to her bed, and keeping her there. He told Biggie that he never expected Erica to utter the words she said.

Laycon

Although a huge catalyst in Erica’s disqualification, Laycon admitted to being sad that Erica was disqualified. He stated that he is still shocked by it, unhappy and he claims to be struggling with that fact.

Ozo

The ever eloquent Ozo told Big Brother that Erica is completely to blame for her actions. Her disqualification was fair and he stated that Laycon and Kiddwaya are not to be blamed even though he noticed that they do feel some glimpse of guilt. He spoke about how both characters were simply being themselves, and that shouldn’t have caused Erica to lose her cool.
