Yahaya Bello to be sworn-in as Kogi governor… without a deputy

Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress will today, be sworn-in as the Kogi State governor-elect.

Bello, who defeated Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Kogi supplementary election, may be sworn-in without a deputy governor.

James Faleke, who was selected by the APC as his running mate, has repeatedly vowed to stay away from the inauguration ceremony.

Faleke insists he’s the bonafide governor of the state, following the passing of the initial candidate of the APC- Audu Abubakar, who died during the collation of the November 21 governorship election.

Subsequent to his death, the election was declared inconclusive and a rerun was scheduled for December 5, which was won by Bello- without a running mate.

Bello’s swearing-in ceremony- which will be attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and other party leaders- will be performed by the Chief Justice of Kogi, Justice Nasir Ajana.

Bello’s swearing-in will officially make him the youngest governor of the state at the age of 41.
