Y! Spotlight: Jimi Ojikutu – a new director’s in town

Now and then, there’s a breath of fresh air that brings someone new and different to sort of shake things up a bit.

Jimi Ojikutu is one of those new breed of creatives that we believe will do a whole lot of shaking and injecting new juice in the creative industry.

Full of energy and fresh with ideas, he brings his experiences in the area of film, music videos, motion graphics, creative direction and brand strategy within and outside Nigeria to the mix.

Having worked with several brands as Creative Director and Content Developer, he heads a new movement of creative mutants as Head Honcho of JinglaNation, a breed of cool calm and super hyper creative mutants, we are not so sure what that means.

“I like to create Music Videos that will show visuals and tell stories like never before, currently working on a Motion Graphic Animated Video for a fresh new talented act, Enigma on his heavy track, ‘we dey try’, and what I want to do with it is breathe life into it, a life people can feel.

“My aim each time is to create visual viruses that will catch on and leech on anyone that comes in contact with the work. I want to replicate this with Music Videos, Brand Movements, Stories and Films, a kind of signature that stands my works out.”

These are words that throw a challenge to the current creative laden Nigerian scene with massive talents like Clarence Peters, Aje, Sesan and others.

It’s always cool to find new acts that bring something fresh and Jimi Ojikutu seems to be set to do that. A story teller who has a few published works like Rebirth, and Zombie Nation in his kitty, he has honed his skills in film directing, visual story telling, and motion graphics and is definitely set to bring it on.
