#WorldCup Roundup: Kylian Mbappe tears Argentina apart to hand France quarter final spot

Kylian Mbappe was the star of the show as France ran riot over an Argentina side in a 4-3 victory to break Lionel Messi’s World Cup hope and power his team to the Quarter-Finals. Antoine Greizmann opened the scoring with a penalty in the 13th minute after Mbappe was brought down in the box. Angel Di Maria restored parity for Argentina on the cusp of halftime with a screamer from outside the box.

Argentina took the lead early on in the second half with Gabriel Mercado but France went on an ultimate rampage led by Golden Boy Mbappe with two wonder goals and a Benjamin Pavard volley (a contender for goal of the tournament). However, Kun Aguero scored in injury time to make the final minutes for France high tension.

This result warms the heart for many Nigerians who will be glad to see Argentina bow out of the tournament after their heartbreaking victory over the Super Eagles. It is a morale-boosting victory for France and they will hope to build on this performance as they stride on in the tournament.
