The All Progressives Congress in Rivers state, has alleged that the N10bn loan approval gotten by Governor Nyesom Wike, from the State Assembly, is fishy and dubious.

According to the APC, a member of the state assembly, who belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party, disclosed that the money is meant to be used by Wike to bribe members of the Tribunal hearing petitions of the March 28 and April 11 general elections in Rivers State.

The party also claimed that 3 key beneficiaries of the money are; former President, Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Patience Jonathan and former Rivers Governor, Peter Odili.

The State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chris Finebone said the party “finds it curious that Wike is taking a loan after boasting that former President Goodluck Jonathan paid the Rivers State government N5billion owed by the Federal government”.

 

The statement said: The APC will like to warn companies, individuals and Zenith Bank Plc. to distance themselves from the wave of bills as the hammer will fall very soon and they will be swept away by a certain wind of justice. Those who would have aided and abated in various designs to dupe Rivers people will have huge price to pay”.

“Part of the fund, we are meant to understand, is to be used to pay off the wife of the former President, Dame Patience Jonathan, Dr Peter Odili and others for imposing Chief Wike on Rivers State against the wishes of our people and against the rotational principle that would have seen the Riverine parts of the State producing the governor after 16 years of rulership by the Upland parts of the State.”

Similarly, the Chairman of the APC, Davies Ikanya, said: “Wike has shamelessly confirmed our fears that he has no agenda for the development of Rivers State, rather than looting the common patrimony of the State with impunity, by influencing the State House of Assembly to approve the sum of N10 billion without the purpose of the approval being clearly state.”
