Since the Coronavirus disease (COVID) was officially declared a pandemic, we have all watched in wait, anticipating and hoping for the world’s top scientists to manufacture a cure.

One of the effects of the pandemic, as we have discovered, is quarantining entire population. People are required, and sometimes forced to remain indoors,  to limit the rate of infection. And while this seems like a valid preventive measure, this in itself leads to its own dilemma.

Like we have seen in Nigeria, people were forced to select between risking infection or suffering hunger and a lot of people were willing to opt for the former.

People all over the globe seem about ready to give up, and risk it all, as we yearn for cure. Luckily, we are told that scientist all over the world are working around the clock to procure a solution.

While at this point we are accustomed to promises of success from clinical trials for the COVID-19 virus, we are yet to see one truly manifest. Not until today when Elena Smolyarchuk, Chief Researcher of the Russian Centre for Clinical Research on Medications at Sechenov University, news of the completion of the first human trial for the vaccine.

BREAKING NEWS: Russia has become the first country to have completed clinical trials of a Covid-19 vaccine, after Sechenov University said that it had concluded its study.

Russia had permitted clinical trails for potential COVID-19 vaccines. This particular vaccine was tried on patients about a month ago, and results shows that the volunteers are developing an immunity to the virus.

Elena Smolyrachuk was later quoted as saying that the vaccine is safe.

Since word of this broke out, Twitter has been on in uproar as people have taken to the app to express their opinion about the news.
