What fate awaits Akapbio as more allegations of corruption spring up against him?

God'swill Akpabio

More and more allegations appear to be piling up against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akapbio.

Earlier accused of being at the centre of many discrepancies and corruption that goes on in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This accusation came from the immediate past acting Managing Director of the commission, Dr. Joi Nunieh after the Senate adhoc committee commenced a probe of alleged financial recklessness and misappropriation of N40 billion by the NDDC Interim Management Committee (IMC), between October 2019 and May 2020.

The former Akwa Ibom governor is again trending and this is coming off after another interview with activist, Kolawole Johnson shared how corruption thrived under Akpabio’s nose.

Akpabio had earlier reacted to Joi’s allegation against him by attacking her character and this fresh interview with Kolawole is opening up the conversation as it concerns the minister and his activities in the NDDC. Many are also calling for justice to take its full course.

While the former governor is yet to address these issues directly, a few Nigerians have expressed grave concerns as a few have shared that the NDDC as a Commission should be scrapped since they have failed on many occasions.

One other thing that got Nigerians talking about the Minister is a fresh report on Dr. Nunieh who expressed that she had slapped Akpabio for sexually harassing her in the past.

According to Joi, in an interview with Arise News, the incident happened at the Minister’s guest house in Abuja adding that her reaction to the alleged harassment proved her intolerance for “nonsense” as a woman from Rivers state.

Speaking, Joi said: “I slapped him. He tried to come on me. I am an Ogoni woman and nobody jokes with us. I showed Akpabio that Rivers women do not tolerate nonsense.” Reacting to this, many Nigerians also took to Twitter to applaud Joi on her bravery against the Akapabio.

While many Nigerians are clamouring for justice to be served on the actors involved in the drama as it concerns the NDDC, many are also saying that proper investigations should be carried out before throwing stones at anyone.

Corruption is a matter of concern for every Nigerian and social media is slowly bringing to light these atrocities, many are calling for the full wrath of the law to be served on parties involved accordingly.
