Preparations for Tokyo 2020 has begun – Dalung

Minister of Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung says the ministry as already started preparing for the next Olympics holding in Tokyo, Japan.

The minister said this on his official Facebook page, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Tuesday stating his concern for the nation’s current performance at Rio 2016.

Dalung said, “We have started preparations for Tokyo 2020 already, I am concerned about our present performance across all the federations which has explained how poor we have done in the past 3 years before I came in as a minister.

“I am barely 9 months in office and preparation of 4 years event couldn’t had been made in such a space of time.

“I have asked presidents of the various federations to submit their plans for Tokyo 2020 Olympics even before we left to Rio Olympics,” he concluded.

Apparently, preparations for Rio 2016 has been nothing to write home about, as many athletes had earlier sort assistance from Nigerians to sponsor their participation for the event. The Sports ministry was alleged to have told them to pay for their tickets, which was denied by the ministry.

The Under-23 football team was also stranded in Atlanta USA and could only arrive for their first game six hours before the tie.
