A spokesperson of the Ibrahim El Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim Musa, has denied the claims that members of the Shiite Muslim sect, attacked the Army with arms.
The Army had alleged that the Shiite Muslims attacked the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, in Zaria, last Saturday, with the aim of assassinating him.
Several members of the sect lost their lives in the clash while the leader of the group, El Zakzaky was arrested by the army.
Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday morning, Musa said the Shiite sect have never carried arms, hence it was impossible to attack the army and its chief’s convoy.
