West African Gaming Expo 2017 holds this September

West African Gaming Expo (WAGE) is the first and only technology conference and exhibition in West Africa focusing on animation, video, mobile games and related products.

WAGE aims to connect the best, brightest, and most innovative professionals in the interactive entertainment industry. Leading-edge companies, groundbreaking new technologies and never-before-seen products will be showcased.

WAGE 17 will be a place where attendees can learn about coding, games development, animation creation, take part in hackathons, register to attend game development classes, take part in educative tournaments, and meet the creators of their favorite games.

WAGE has partnered with Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssotfware. The BIU, the German Games Industry Association, is the organisation that officially represents the German computer and video games industry. The BIU will be inviting the biggest and best gaming companies from around the world to fly down to African and work with African developers.

Activities for attendees

Here are a list of activities attendees can take part in at WAGE 17.

Activity Description   Rules Requirement
Pitch A Game Pitch A Game competition is for young students and upcoming game developers. Anyone below the ages of 17 will have the opportunity to pitch a gaming Idea to a panel judges. All games being pitched must have a playable demo.

Children under the age of 18 without a game but wants to take part can do so.

Day 1

Tutorial and Workshop: 10 – 1 Students will be educated on how to develop games, and students who successfully develop a game can take part in Pitch A Game.

Students will be provided with Pitching lessons and skills.

Day 2

Students will be given the opportunity to Pitch their game idea to the public and judges. All participants will be provided with exhibition spaces.

Participants must be under the age of 17

Developed content will be exhibited at WAGE 17 and the content with the highest votes from attendees wins

Teams can have a maximum of 8 members

Participants must provide their own computers and hardware All participants must be respectful to others taking part

All Students wanting to take part should please come with their laptops.

An educational institution can bring a team

All participants must be respectful to others taking part

All participants must take part in the WAGE 17 pitching lesson and skills tutorial.

Winners will be giving branded prizes.

Competition is or content creators and developers. Anyone above the ages of 18, will have the opportunity to attend a 2 day hackathon.

Participants must be over 18 years of age.

Human Monopoly Board BestMan Games Nigeria, the makers of Monopoly Nigeria, will be creating a 15f by 15f

Game development for beginners Chop Up Games, one of Africa’s Largest games development studios will be teaching beginners how to develop games.
