Nollywood filmmaker Charles Okpaleke has given us something to look forward to once the coronavirus pandemic fizzles out – an animation blockbuster which his production company Play Network will commence on. It’s the studio’s first animation tryout and according to Okpaleke on Instagram, Nigeria is ripe for some animation features.

Although details about the project hasn’t been revealed, it’s safe to say Okpaleke is capable of handling this different medium of filmmaking. 2019’s Living In Bondage sequel placed him as a new, exciting player who is headlining the glut of upcoming remakes in the industry. With movies like Malika: Warrior Queen already on ground, Okpaleke’s upcoming animation will only add to Nollywood’s lean reserve of animated properties.

FG can’t share N15billion donated by private companies to fight COVID-19 – Lai Mohammed

Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Information, has explained why the Federal government cannot share to Nigerians the funds donated by private Nigerians and organizations for the fight against COVID19. Over N15 billion have been donated by private Nigerians and organizations under the auspice ”COVID-19 Relief Fund”.

Nigerians have called on the government to share the N15 billion donated as palliatives during the lockdown over the Coronavirus pandemic. Reacting to this call, the Minister who was featured on a Radio Nigeria programme yesterday, said the Federal government does not have the power to distriubute such funds.

He explained that the private individuals and organizations came together to donate the funds and asked the Federal government how they can help to effectively fight the pandemic.

Kaduna begins house-to-house search for Lagos and Abuja returnees

The Katsina State Government has announced that it will begin a house-to-house search for residents of the state who recently returned from Lagos, Abuja and other states that have recorded cases of Coronavirus. Commissioner for Information and Chairman of Katsina COVID-19 Sub Committee, Haddi Mohammed Tsirika made the announcement yesterday.

Eight more coronavirus patients discharged in Lagos

Eight more COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba yesterday. The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu, announced this on his social media handles this evening. According to the governor, the discharged patients include two females and 6 males. He said they were discharged after they tested negative for the virus and were said to have fully recovered from COVID-19.
