The Future Awards which took place in Rivers State on the August 26 beamed its searchlight on an unassuming but thorough professional with the award of the Young Person of The Year Award to Idris Akinbajo, an investigative reporter with the Premium Times online newspaper.

Akinbajo, 30, who has a degree from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, is now the senior reporter on the media company’s investigative desk with focus on stories of corruption, human right abuses, and failure of regulatory agencies.

He has through his professionalism unearthed several cases of financial misappropriation, fraud, terror attacks, and official misinformation, succeeding in bringing these issues out to the public focus.
