There will be a reading of the book War By Other Means authored by Idiare Atimomo and published by AuthorHouse Publishers at the Freedom Hall, Terra Kulture, Victoria Island. The author is scheduled to read passages of the book to the audience today at 7pm.

The novel though purporting to be fiction, is solidly grounded in the realities of the Nigerian condition and especially on the fate and fortunes (or otherwise) of Nigeria’s Niger-Delta people.

It reflects on Nigeria’s fragile ethnic relations, its failings, and the lost opportunities. It critically looks into the mutual ethnic suspicion that has been the lot of our nature, the greed of the power elite, the weakness of the political structure supporting the nation.

Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, the spokesman to former president Yar’Adua reviewed the book saying, “War By Other Means is no doubt an interesting story and I admire the power of imagination that gave birth to it and the intellect that could weave such a complex drama around the absurdity of the 1999 constitution but there are some pertinent issues which I am aware many critical readers would ponder on.”

The principal characters featured in the novel bear a striking resemblance to individuals who have affected the fortunes of the country and more concretely, the Niger-Delta socio-political space.

The characters therein remain the Governor of Delta State, President of Nigeria, National Security Adviser and other such high officers in our nation all of which make it difficult for readers not to put faces to the fictional names.
