The University of Jos has suspended an associate Professor of Law, Benedicta Daudu for allegedly cheating during an examination on May 4, Premium Times reports.

Daudu, the former head of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law of the Faculty of Law in UNIJOS, was allegedly caught copying from a prepared answer while writing an exam for a Masters degree in Research and Public Policy in the same institution.

It was learnt that the development prompted her suspension from the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.

A source confirmed that the professor has been suspended from work as well as the Masters programme.

“I can confirm to you that the Senate Disciplinary Committee found her guilty of the allegations, and has suspended her from the Masters programme for two semesters,” an official of the university said.

“Also, the matter was referred to the Staff Disciplinary Committee which also suspended her from work. So she is no longer teaching.”

It was also gathered that the professor has sued the institution over her suspension.

Executive Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Bolaji Owasanoye said the professor will not be admitted into the committee until the matter is settled.

He said, “Until matter is resolved, she remains away from PACAC.”
