Patricia Arquette bagged the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress during the Oscars on Sunday night but what drew people more other than her win was her speech after which delved into an inspiring call for wage equality.
In her speech she said, “To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights,” she said. “It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.” It only could have gotten better if she’d dropped the mic.”
The speech was so intact, Meryl Streep couldn’t resist yelling, “Yassss” right after.
Meanwhile, John Legend and Common have probably had the best year. First of all, they bagged an award for best original soundtrack for the movie Selma during the Golden Globes and now they have bagged another for the same movie at the Oscars. The electrifying moment however was their performance of the song that is shooting them fast to fame and fortune, Glory.
The crowd gave a standing ovation during and after their performance, it was hard not to have goose pimples.
