Trump shifts attention to opioid crisis, to hold major briefing today

President Donald Trump has set his eyes on the opioid crisis in the United States. The crisis is turning into an epidemic as series of casualties have flooded American and Canadian communities with the abuse of opioids.

He tweeted, “I will be holding a major briefing on the Opioid crisis, a major problem for our country, today at 3:00 P.M. in Bedminster, N.J.”

The opioid epidemic or opioid crisis is the rapid increase in the use of prescription and non-prescription of opioid drugs in the United States and Canada in recent times.

Opioids are a diverse class of very strong painkillers, including oxycodone (commonly sold under the trade names OxyContin and Percocet), hydrocodone (Vicodin ), and fentanyl, which are synthesized to resemble opiates such as opium – derived from morphine and heroin.
