Trump set to cut refugees entry to lowest in several decades

According to a report Monday afternoon, President Trump is expected to announce on Tuesday his plan of lower the number of refugees admitted into the U.S. down from 110,000 under former President Barack Obama to 45,000 next year.

Trump’s plan will take hold upon the lapse of the suspension sanctioned by the Supreme Court in June which allowed the Trump administration to implement a 120-day suspension of most refugee admissions, and is expected to lapse on Tuesday.

In addition, Trump will also sign a document on Tuesday that will enforce the raising of “standards” for refugee entries.

The administration’s move will lower refugee acceptance levels to their lowest level in decades.
