Trump mocks CNN and Nancy Pelosi at closed door republican fundraiser

President Donald Trump attended the first fundraiser of his 2020 reelection campaign at the Trump International Hotel in Washington and took no prisoners bashing his favorites- the media.

In an almost 30 minutes address at the closed-door event, the president continued to bash CNN after railing on them non-stop Tuesday. Trump mocked the network for errors and referred to himself as an unfair victim of their reporting, according to reports.

With an audience of major Republican Party benefactors in attendance, Trump highlighted the special election victories paying special attention to last week’s win for a Georgia congressional seat. The president made jokes about Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff raising over $20 million and yet couldn’t get an apartment in Atlanta.

Trump quickly moved on to Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi,  joking that the Republicans needed Pelosi to stay atop her caucus.One organizer estimated that around $10 million was raised – a sum that will be divided between Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee. Some of those attending donated more than $30,000. A number of major GOP figures were in attendance, including the RNC’s chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, and finance chair Steve Wynn, both of whom the president praised.

According to Politico, one organizer estimated about $10 million was raised, the amount will be split between Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee. Some of the attendees donated more than $30,000. Despite a series of legislative setbacks, Trump highlighted what he’d so far accomplished, pointing to his deregulation efforts. He also discussed health care legislation, which is stalled in the Senate, and said it needed to get done.
