Trump meets Macron for bilateral discussions in New York

As part of bilateral discussions with various world leaders as disclosed by the White House on Monday in the wake of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly in New York, President Trump after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu also held discussions with French President, Emmanuel Macron.

Trump was pleased to meet the young French President whom he visited in Paris on a two-day Presidential visit in July to discuss interrelations between the two world leaders.

He wrote in a tweet, “It was a great honour to be with President @EmmanuelMacron of France this afternoon with his delegation. Great bilateral meeting! #UNGA”

During the meeting, Trump commended Macron’s achievement so far since he assumed office saying he has done a terrific job for France. The US President also referred to the Bastille Day parade in Paris where he was a guest in July, he applauded the military organisation and coveted same for the United States.

Trump also relayed his personal respect and that of the US at large for Macron and for France.
