The practise of employing underage children, especially females, to function as housemaids in urban areas far away from their families and loved ones has been roundly condemned with many seeing no justification for it. Others, however, are of the opinion that taking underage children away from their mostly poor parents may be the only opportunity for the children to take a shot at getting an education which has the potential of freeing them from the shackles of poverty.
A tweet asking for a 15-year-old nanny or less yesterday led to an interesting debate on the subject.
