Toke Makinwa, Falz and Bovi, is ‘Therapy’ the more star powered show on Youtube?

Therapy

Apart from the impressive budgets put behind shows by the big 3 media companies creating online show content, most of the shows made for Youtube tend to fall on the indie-film spectrum, with mid-level actors carrying the shows supported by relatively new faces in the industry. But it seems House 21 TV has another strategy for getting things going. Their new show  “Therapy“ about a dysfunctional couple Abiodun & Stephanie are trying to solve their marital issues via therapy is fronted by two of Nigeria’s biggest multi-medium influencers Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana and Toke Makinwa.

Toke Makinwa has been dabbling in film with a number of minor roles and a supporting role in last year’s mega block buster Sugar Rush, and Falz is as popular for his film career as he is for his music. He is so good he has even won a coveted Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards. They provide most of the meat of the show, moderated by comedian Bovi, who plays the frazzled relationship therapist Dr. Jude who has to moderate the inanities that seem to plague their relationship.

Josh2Funny rounds out the core of the cast as a religious guide who counsels the couple before their marriage. The fights tend to be incredibly outrageous but Falz and Toke somehow manage to play off each other in a way that somehow works. The numbers after three episodes suggest that they have a ready audience eager to gobble down their unique brand of situational drama.
