Today’s Daily Brief: PDP govs are not happy with GEJ, Adamawa PDP kick against Tukur’s suspension, Okorocha promises free education if elected, and more

More trouble is ahead for the troubled Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2015 general elections.

This is because, some of its governors are angry with the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and senate president David Mark over the collapse of the deal President Goodluck Jonathan had with them before he was adopted as the sole presidential candidate of the party.

The governor are angry that the President fell to the blackmail of senators who threatened to impeach him and thereby agreed with them (senators) that some of them be given authomatic tickets.

The angry governors are meeting with President Jonathan on Tuesday night, to register their displeasure on the matter.

Voting materials arrived late in Ekiti State on Saturday for the Peoples Democratic Party’s House of Representatives Primaries.
A five-member Electoral Committee from the PDP national secretariat led by Alhaji Bala Suleiman arrived at the state secretariat of the party in Ado-Ekiti arround 4:30 p.m.
Suleiman said the committee received materials on Saturday morning in Abuja and had to travel by road to Ado-Ekiti.
He said, “We just collected the materials from our national secretariat today and we had to travel a far distance to get to Ekiti because we came by road.
“We are not happy subjecting our aspirants and delegates to stress, but I want to assure that they will be given level-playing ground. None of them will be schemed out of contention.”

The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has threatened to pull out of the party’s National Convention in Abuja if the National Working Committee does not rescind its decision to hold all Adamawa primary elections in Abuja and allow the “authentic delegates to vote during the party primaries”.

The party had announced Friday that all Adamawa primaries will now hold in Abuja.

The decision came after a panel sent to conduct state assembly election in Adamawa, said its members were held hostage and forced to accept fake results on the instructions of Governor Bala Ngilari.

Mr. Ngilari supports Joel Madaki as chairman of the party, but the national office of the PDP says Mr. Madaki stands suspended from the party.

The governors of Delta and Enugu States, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Sullivan Chime respectively, have dropped their ambitions to retire next year to the Senate.

Both had planned to contest the senatorial elections to represent Delta South and Enugu West Senatorial Districts respectively on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Mr. Uduaghan is reportedly dropping his senatorial ambition for peace to reign in the state and to enable him assist President Goodluck Jonathan in his re-election bid.

The governor, who assumed office in May 2007, will round off his second term in May 2015.
