Religious and Political Twitter Nigeria are particularly volatile streets. All it takes for violence to occur is someone striking a match in form of controversial tweet, an unpopular opinion, heresy, anything, really.
That’s how Nigerian Christians took up arms -figuratively speaking, of course- after some tweets they did not agree with were posted.
A little background: Lamborghini gifted Pope Francis with a custom made Huracan RWD, painted in the Vatican’s signature colors of white and gold and the Pope blessed it and signed it, then said he will be selling the car to raise money for the Church’s human trafficking intervention program, rebuilding churches and homes in Iraq and African missions.
It’s not the first time the pope is selling a luxury item, but that didn’t deter Twitter Nigeria from descending into chaos over it..
Chidinma struck the match:
She got over a thousand retweets.
Ayo Sogunro added fuel:
Burn, baby, burn:
In case you were “dumb” enough to think otherwise, Ikenna will not have you diminishing the Catholic Church’s charity drive.
You have to be really dumb to think any Church does more charity than the Roman Catholic Church though. And it's not because I am a Catholic. It's simply is because you have refused to look at the facts – size, reach, numbers. Facts don't lie. People just lie to themselves.

The Voltrons arrive to tell the side of the story people would rather ignore:
Look, I can boldly tweet that without the Nigerian church, cutting across denominations, millions will die of hunger in Nigeria

Bros, when I leave work every Sunday morning I see churches sharing foodstuff and cooked food in Apapa.
Go to Ojuelegba, you’ll see the same. Go to Oshodi. The Church in Nigeria is doing a lot. https://t.co/dbmD0qceqV

They will never know. The Experience is coming up in 2weeks time. The area boys who we all call (Jesus boys) have benefitted from my church. You can't count the number of area boys HOTR has rehabilitated over the last decade… https://t.co/PcwzhSHnFl

If govt were performing half of its responsibilities, we won't be expecting the church to do all these wonders.

No o, its the church's responsibility to provide amenities, eradicate poverty, end world hunger and provide world peach https://t.co/TZrFJIJHsX

The car has already been put up for auction. "The money raised will go to four charitable projects, including one aimed at rebuilding the homes and churches of persecuted Christians in the Nineveh Plains in Iraq".
Please tell your "Daddy" to emulate that. https://t.co/Axsb6xOiSP

As far as it goes, Pastors shouldn't live in absolute luxury is there is still even one member of their church who is struggling to eat each day.
It's as simple as that.

One day, I'll do a thread about how much charity work churches in Nigeria do.
PS. The buggy the Pope rides in probably costs more than this Lambo. https://t.co/G1JdWcv81x

Most churches are heavily involved in welfare but how can good news sell? What would Daddyfreezer nag about if it's all good news? https://t.co/ZhLO2Iuxno

My own is Nigerians only always sees the bad in ourselves ,we never appreciates the good. Never. Its sad.
Most of our major men of God are hard working high fliers. And you can't take it from them or dictate how spend their sweat.

Tony takes everyone back to the Bible
We dey cherry pick. Today you go pick the act of Jesus to suit your narrative. Tomorrow another act to bash him and Christianity

LOL. "Popegasm" everywhere like Naija pastors do nothing. Like they just cross leg, buy cars and drive around Lagos. But I'm not here.
