The Thread: “Talk is cheap” “Can a leopard change to squirrel overnight”? | Nigerians call out IBB

Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida has come out to say that Nigeria needs to be retructured. He is the latest in the swelling line of people who believe Nigeria cannot continue on its current trajectory without consequences.

According to this Channels TV report, IBB said as follows:

“Restructuring has become a national appeal as we speak, whose time has come. I will strongly advocate for devolution of powers to the extent that more responsibilities be given to the states while the federal government is vested with the responsibility to oversee our foreign policy, defense, and economy.

But will the man who scuttled the most democratic elections Nigeria has ever had be taken seriously? Or would he be seen as someone who’s got something up his sleeves? The reactions are telling.
