The Thread: How Nigerians are changing people’s lives this Christmas

Over in the abroad this time of the year, parents take their children to visit Santa at the malls and he gives them presents after asking if they’ve been naughty or nice. That’s usually after they get a truckload of presents from their parents too. The homeless and poor also have a hope in Salvation Army’s (and other charities) soup kitchens where they can get food and a place to sleep.

Nigeria has tried to make a thing out of Santa here, but it hasn’t quite caught on. At least, we also have our own version of soup kitchens. Some churches and individuals take to popular parks and slum neighbourhoods to share Christmas cheer by way of food and drinks.

Perhaps you think you aren’t that wealthy to undertake such an expensive venture. Have you considered what 1,000 naira can do?

Allow Nori and others share their stories and go thou and do likewise.

God bless.
