Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault saga opened a whole can of worms across continents about sexual assault by celebrities. Kenya Twitter got right into it when one of their own called out a celebrity, Nick Mtuma (actor and model), for sexually assaulting his girlfriend.
Waiting for y'all to talk about these rapey Kenyan actors. Preying on drunk girls at clubs & trying to force them into their cars.

So I showed this screenshot to my girlfriend and turns out Nick has also sexually harassed her before. To the point of trying to force himself on her.

See below:
It was Ameru Festival 2016. We had just wrapped up the last day, whole team was having dinner/drinks to celebrate a job well done. I left the group early coz I was exhausted from shooting 2 days straight.

So a friend of mine who’s a mixologist in some of our top clubs sent me this about Nick Mutuma: pic.twitter.com/NcVvanrscN

Just like we’ve seen each time a woman comes forward with her rape/sexual assault story, fellow men formed a protective wall around the accused, saying everything they could to tarnish the image of the girl, the victim. This male entitlement/privilege that presupposes right off the bat that it must have been the woman -the victim- who did, said, wore, something that brought this evil upon her has to stop. Yesterday.
We are just glad that once again, a man is speaking up against abuse.
Reactions:
women in this world will never be safe till men either pay them their due respect or live with the morbid fear of deadly consequences of mishandling a woman coz let's be honest we have failed them

This is soo wrong am a big fan of Nick but you shouldn't have left your girl men
— 1st NameGreatest (@MutungaKelvin_) November 10, 2017
@KoomeGitobu Yoh so you were the eye witness? Coz if you not, all this is just a story..from what she told you which @nickmutuma should sue your ass, may be the story is the other way round..

As people take sides and attack @KoomeGitobu . This society is obdurate and hopeless

The buffoonery of blaming the victim. Sexual harassment is wrong. No ifs or buts.

Nick’s denials
It is unfortunate that in an era of information, a lot of misinformation is spread across the internet. A person can lose everything in less than 140 characters, without even being given the opportunity to defend themselves.
— Nick Mutuma (@nickmutuma) November 10, 2017
I entirely deny the story that is currently circulating about me. I’m extremely distressed that I’m being linked to this. I am passionate about creating an environment where women feel – and are – safe and respected. I would like to speak to @koomegitobu and his gf directly.

Koome’s defence
I am not. You are attempting to claim that my girlfriend made this whole assault up. You are providing yourself as a witness yet I know for a fact you did the same things he did. Plus you were flat out drunk that night. How can you possibly vouch for Nick’s every move?
— Koome Gitobu (@KoomeGitobu) November 10, 2017
Alright. So update to this Nick Mutuma issue:
We spoke on phone yesterday. He maintains that he’s shocked anyone is accusing him of hurting a woman. He said he cant remember the events of that night, but still denies ever touching or talking to my gf.— Koome Gitobu (@KoomeGitobu) November 11, 2017
This I still find odd. How can you be so sure you never assaulted someone if you cant really remember how things went down?
Please note this wasn’t some random club night 10yrs ago, this was a major festival 18 months ago.— Koome Gitobu (@KoomeGitobu) November 11, 2017
Anyway. I wasn’t mad, I was disappointed. For those of you trying to look for a connection between Nick & I yes he was someone I regarded as a close friend for many years. Up until yesterday morning.
— Koome Gitobu (@KoomeGitobu) November 11, 2017
There is a huge amount of evidence in the scholarly literature and legal history showing that reporting sexual assault is more likely to harm the victim than the perpetrator. Conversely, false accusations are extremely rare compared to actual sexual assault.
— ⓪ Rik Smith-Unna ?? (@blahah404) November 10, 2017
For you to disbelieve the victim and explicitly take sides with the perpetrator is disgusting. You're helping perpetrate sexual violence. Maybe take your job seriously and learn about the subject before you cause more harm.
— ⓪ Rik Smith-Unna ?? (@blahah404) November 10, 2017
The fact that you're more worried about men being blackmailed than women being raped is deeply troubling. More than half of your constituents are women. Are you representing them?
— ⓪ Rik Smith-Unna ?? (@blahah404) November 10, 2017
Crazy that sexual assault was yesterday's main discussion on the same day I had a client break down on me during her workout because she was assaulted this weekend. She struggled one set & then broke down in tears. "You gotta make me strong. I don't wanna go thru that again."
— Practice's Baby (@TallTattedNFit) November 10, 2017
That shit hurt my soul. I was angry & wanted to fight. I was sad & wanted to console her. I was stuck. I didn't know what to tell her. Men are really out here traumatizing women for no reason but their own sick satisfaction. We gotta do better protecting women & punishing abusers
