The Thread: What men do to silence victims of sexual assault

Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault saga opened a whole can of worms across continents about sexual assault by celebrities. Kenya Twitter got right into it when one of their own called out a celebrity, Nick Mtuma (actor and model), for sexually assaulting his girlfriend.

See below:

Just like we’ve seen each time a woman comes forward with her rape/sexual assault story, fellow men formed a protective wall around the accused, saying everything they could to tarnish the image of the girl, the victim. This male entitlement/privilege that presupposes right off the bat that it must have been the woman -the victim- who did, said, wore, something that brought this evil upon her has to stop. Yesterday.

We are just glad that once again, a man is speaking up against abuse.
